Chesterfield Township Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a serious injury traffic crash involving a motorcycle today at 1:19 PM. The crash was located on 26 Mile Rd just east of I-94, in front of the Meijer store.
A 30 year old Wales Township man was operating the Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on 26 Mile Rd. He struck the front of a Ford pick-up driven by a 27 year old Chesterfield Township man who was entering the roadway near the Meijer driveway.
The motorcycle operator was transported to an area hospital by Medstar Ambulance. He is currently in critical, yet stable condition. The crash is currently being investigated by Chesterfield Township Police Crash Investigators. The initial investigation and witness accounts are showing the motorcyclist ran the red light and collided with the Ford pick-up. Alcohol or drugs are not apparent in this crash.
