Specialty Task Forces
Multi-Agency Task ForcesChesterfield officers serve on four Macomb County task forces targeting narcotics, fugitives, auto theft and post-overdose outreach.
About the Specialty Task Forces
The Chesterfield Township Police Department has officers working with several specialty groups within Macomb County to better serve the community and keep residents safe. Crime rarely stops at a township line, and these multi-agency teams let a department of Chesterfield's size draw on county, state and federal resources for narcotics, fugitive, auto theft and major crime investigations.
The department assigns one officer to the County of Macomb Enforcement Team (C.O.M.E.T.), one officer to the F.A.N.T.O.M. DEA task force and a detective to the Macomb Auto Theft Squad (M.A.T.S.). Officers also participate in the Face Addiction Now (F.A.N.) post-overdose response team.
Work done on these teams feeds directly back to Chesterfield Township. Task force officers bring intelligence, contacts and specialized training home, and the C.O.M.E.T. assignment is supported by a grant that the department received in 2025. The F.A.N. Quick Response Team training that department members completed during the year is one example of that exchange.

Macomb Auto Theft Squad (M.A.T.S.)
The Macomb Auto Theft Squad is a multi-jurisdictional task force originally formed in 1982. It is made up of six detectives from area departments, including Warren, Sterling Heights, Clinton Township, Roseville, the Macomb County Sheriff and Chesterfield Township. Cases are assigned from each department and worked collectively by all of the detectives. Physical surveillance of suspects, placing trackers on vehicles and investigating auto-related thefts are the focus of the unit.
Face Addiction Now (F.A.N.)
Face Addiction Now is a post-overdose response team made up of police officers and peer support team members, including individual and family peer coaches. The F.A.N. team visits overdose survivors and their families at home in the hope of directing the survivor and their family to treatment and detox services. Department members completed F.A.N.
