Captain Brian McNair
As Administrative Captain, Brian McNair is responsible for the administration of the Chesterfield Township Police Department. His portfolio includes the budget, personnel, training, grants, community planning, information technology, the Dispatch Center, the Records Department and building maintenance. He serves as Acting Chief whenever the Director is absent.
Captain McNair has been with the department since 2003. Over that time his assignments have included road patrol, the traffic bureau, accident investigation and reconstruction, evidence technician, Community Relations Officer, FTO and CTO supervisor, and command of a patrol unit. Before joining Chesterfield Township he served with the Hazel Park Police Department from 1999 to 2003.
A graduate of the Macomb Police Academy, Captain McNair holds a Bachelor of Science in Leadership in Public Safety from Baker College and a Master of Arts in Administration from Central Michigan University, and he completed the Eastern Michigan University School of Police Staff and Command.
He teaches as a Criminal Justice adjunct professor at Baker College and as a law enforcement adjunct instructor at the Macomb Community College Criminal Justice Training Center. Those teaching roles keep him connected to the next generation of officers and to the training standards the department must meet. He is also a member of the department's Fatal Accident Investigation Team.

Responsibilities
- Oversees the full administration of the police department
- Manages department budget planning, purchasing and accounts payable
- Directs personnel management, payroll and performance oversight
- Coordinates training and professional development programs
- Researches, applies for and manages grants
- Leads community planning and public relations initiatives
- Oversees information technology and its deployment
- Supervises the Dispatch Center and the Records Department
- Manages building maintenance and department equipment
- Serves as Acting Chief in the absence of the Director
- Responds as a member of the Fatal Accident Investigation Team
