School Resource Officer
Community ProgramsOfficer Ryan Wilson serves the Anchor Bay School District as School Resource Officer, protecting students and staff while building positive relationships in every school.
About the School Resource Officer
The School Resource Officer for the Anchor Bay School District protects and serves the school community, deters crime, and builds positive relationships with students. The safety of the schools and the children who attend them is a priority for the department, and the officer is a familiar face in the buildings throughout the school year.
During the day the School Resource Officer monitors hallways, checks the security of exterior doors, visits classes, monitors the cafeteria during lunch, assists with drills, and follows up on school-related incidents at the request of school staff. The officer also monitors school parking lots during student drop-off and pickup.
At the elementary schools the primary role is education, mentorship, officer presence and familiarity. Young students who get to know an officer by name start their relationship with police on a positive footing.
