PRESS RELEASE: MISSING BOATER

PRESS RELEASE UPDATE 03/29/2024 2:10PM
Jonathan Kloss was located this afternoon just after 12:00 PM. His deceased body was located in Anchor Bay by the Macomb County Sheriff Marine Division near the area of the bay where the jet Ski capsized last night. The Kloss family is grieving the loss of Jonathan.

The Chesterfield Twp Police Detective Bureau along with the Macomb Sheriff Marine Division will continue to work on this unfortunate loss of life. This incident is currently being investigated as an accident. There is no sign of criminal activity. The Chesterfield Twp Police Dept. would like to thank all the agencies and citizens that helped with this incident.

UPDATE 03/29/24 10:54AM

The Chesterfield Twp Police Dept is continuing the search for the missing boater Jonathan Kloss. Chesterfield Twp Marine 1 is currently manned with police officers and has been searching Anchor Bay since 7:30 AM this morning. The Chesterfield Twp Fire Dept also has a rescue boat out on the bay searching for Jonathan. Anchor Bay is also being searched by the Macomb County Sheriff Marine Division and Home Land Security in their helicopter. Fortunately the conditions on Anchor Bay are good. The search for Jonathan will continue all day.

Hunter Lentine, the rescued boater, is currently still receiving care at an area hospital. He is stable and accompanied by family and friends. The family of Jonathan Kloss is very concerned and are supporting the rescue efforts.

The Chesterfield Twp. Police Department is currently searching for Jonathan Kloss. He is a 21 year old white male of Chesterfield Twp. who has been missing since 8:45 PM this evening. He and his friend 19 year old Hunter Lentine, resident of New Baltimore, rode their Jet Skis onto Lake St Clair’s Anchor Bay from the boat launch located at Brandenburg Park located at 50050 Jefferson Ave in Chesterfield Twp. The Jet Skis were located capsized and floating in Anchor bay off Brandenburg Park. Hunter Lentine was rescued from the water and is currently receiving medical care at an area hospital. First responders are currently searching Anchor Bay for Jonathon Kloss.

Marine Division, and the Michigan State Police.
