On Sunday, October 25, at approximately 7:25 p.m., the Chesterfield Dispatch Center received multiple calls reporting a vehicle that had crashed into a residence on Maurice Road near Donner Road.

Chesterfield Township Police officers responded to the scene and located a black Kia K5 inside the residence, which sustained significant structural damage. All occupants of the vehicle had exited prior to officers’ arrival. Officers also checked on the sole occupant of the residence, who sustained minor injuries from flying debris and broken glass. MedStar was requested to evaluate individuals who sustained minor injuries.

The 18-year-old driver, who is from Florida, was interviewed by officers and underwent field sobriety testing. The results indicated that alcohol or drugs were not contributing factors. The preliminary investigation indicates that driver error was a contributing factor in the crash. The driver was transported to the hospital by MedStar with minor injuries and has since been released.

The Chesterfield Fire Department responded to assess the structural damage. Working in coordination with the Chesterfield Township Building Department, personnel secured the structure to facilitate the safe removal of the vehicle by Ballors Towing and allow for further evaluation of the safety of the residence.

The case remains under further investigation for charges. The Chesterfield Township Police Department reminds motorists to drive responsibly, remain attentive, and maintain a safe following distance while driving.

The department would like to thank the Chesterfield Technical Rescue Group and the Chesterfield Township Building Department for their assistance in securing the structure and helping ensure the safety of everyone involved.
