On Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Chesterfield Township Police Department joins the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Bring expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications to Chesterfield Police Headquarters at 46525 Continental Drive for safe disposal.
This service is free and anonymous. No questions asked.
What we can accept
Pills and patches only.
What we cannot accept
Illegal drugs, liquids, needles or sharps, inhalers, mercury thermometers, aerosol cans, biohazardous materials (anything containing a bodily fluid or blood), flares, personal care products (shampoo, soap, lotion, sunscreen), household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, chemicals, oil or gas) and unmarked acids.
Why it matters
Medicines left in home cabinets are easy to misuse, and most misused prescription drugs come from the medicine cabinets of family and friends. Flushing medications or throwing them in the trash can also harm people and the environment. Take Back Day gives everyone a safe, convenient way to clear them out. At the October 2025 Take Back Day, the DEA and its partners collected 571,054 pounds of medication at 4,317 sites nationwide.
Can’t make it on October 24?
You do not have to wait for Take Back Day. The Med Return Bin in the police station lobby takes pills, tablets and capsules 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. See how to dispose of unused prescriptions for details.
