Victim/Deceased: Michael Beers, a 34 yr old man from Chesterfield Township.
Other Driver: An 18 yr old male from Chesterfield Township.
This morning (Friday December 18th, 2015) at approximately 7:10 a.m., Chesterfield Township Police and Fire units responded to Chesterfield Road, just south of 24 Mile Road, the scene of a two car head-on collision. Upon arrival at the scene it was determined that both drivers (and sole occupants of their respective vehicles) were pinned inside their vehicles and were subsequently extricated by Chesterfield Township Fire personnel. Mr. Michael Beers was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation at the scene leads investigators to believe that Mr. Beers was traveling south bound on Chesterfield Road (in a 2000 Jeep), from 24 Mile Road, when an 18 year old Chesterfield man driving north bound on Chesterfield Road (in a 2010 Chrysler Mini-Van) crossed over into Mr. Beers lane of travel, causing the head-on collision. The 18 year old driver was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
