On Sunday morning (10/29/2017), at approximately 5:45am, Chesterfield Township Police and Fire units, along with (2) Medstar units, responded to Gratiot and Hickey Road, the scene of a head-on critical injury accident. Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles and conveyed to McLaren Macomb. Although the investigation is ongoing, it appears at this time that the driver of the white Ford F-150 (Driver #1) was southbound on Gratiot, south of 25 Mile Road, and crossed over into the northbound lanes, colliding head-on with the black Dodge Ram pick-up (Driver #2). Officers at the scene located suspected marijuana and prescription medication inside the cab of the demolished Ford pick-up (Driver #1). It is unknown at this time if these controlled substances were a contributing factor in the crash.
Driver #1: A 22 year old male from Chesterfield Twp. Mi., driving a white 2003 Ford F-150 Pick-up.
Driver #2: A 60 year old male from Chesterfield Twp. Mi., driving a black Dodge Ram Super Duty Pick-up.
Both men are currently at McLaren Macomb Hospital and listed in critical but stable condition.
