VICTIM: Junious Jones, a 45 year old male from Detroit MI
LOCATION: Gratiot and S. Knollwood (Gratiot between 21 Mile Rd. and 22 Mile Rd.)
On Thursday (12-03-15), at approximately 7:00am, Chesterfield Township Police and Fire units responded to Gratiot and S. Knollwood, the scene of a pedestrian accident. The victim (pedestrian), Mr. Junious Jones, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation, in its preliminary stages, indicates that Mr. Jones was on foot in the center turn lane on Gratiot when he was struck by a 16 year old Chesterfield male preparing to turn onto S. Knollwood from south bound Gratiot in a 2006 Ford Fusion. Mr. Jones came to rest in the north bound lanes of Gratiot where he was struck again by (2) separate vehicles that were north bound on Gratiot. The drivers involved remained and/or returned to the scene and all stated that at no point did they ever see Mr. Jones prior to striking him. During the investigation north and south bound Gratiot were reduced to the shoulders for travel for several hours. The roadway has since been re-opened to normal traffic flow.
