The ordinance permits firework use on the day before, day of and day after the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Firework use on any other day of the year is not permitted.
It is also illegal to discharge fireworks in the township between midnight and 8 a.m., except on New Year’s Day, when fireworks can be used until 1 a.m. In addition, residents may not use fireworks on public property, including parks, schools and churches, without written permission to do so. Minors are prohibited from handling and possessing consumer fireworks. Consumer fireworks shall not be discharged or used by a person under the influence of Alcoholic liquor or controlled substance or a combination of both.
